Nurture vs. Nature (courtesy of Kaelee)
So.. nurture vs. nature and how does it play a role in someone's abilities. Nurturing is how a person is raised and how a much attention a person gets as they're growing up to every aspect of their life. Nature would be how a person is as is, without the influence of a parent or coach pushing them to excel in everything they do. I believe nurturing does play a role in someone's abilities to a certain extent. While a person is born with their own individual aptitudes, the influence of someone else could cause someone to excel in their abilities or even do worse if the feedback is negative. If a person receives positive feedback, they often do things better to receive more compliments and in turn increase their skills, so they can gain recognition. If a person receives negative feedback, they often retreat and don't try to do better than what they can do naturally. People who receive too much attention can also stray away from what the coach/parent wants because the child needs space of their own and needs to do things on their own and their own way. (why I picked this example I have absolutely no clue) >For example, on HSM Troy Bolton was pushed by his father to be the best basketball player he possibly could be. In a way, the father was living his dreams through his son. Troy succeeded for awhile but eventually got tired of all of the pressure. He was nurtured in the area of basketball too much that naturally he didn't want to participate anymore. He did the school musical and later talked things through with his dad. They figured out that the father needed to not push the son so hard and just let things happen the way they were meant to happen. In conclusion, nurturing does influence a persons abilities. It could help them excel or draw back in activities or in daily life. Too much or too little nurturing could harm a person's natural abilities, so you should let your children develop all their natural abilities and let them be the best they can be. :)
